For ages 18 and up a polio vaccine is not recommended because adults are already immune to poliovirus (“Immunize” 3). But for adults who are traveling to existing places where poliovirus is present, travelers should get 3 different polio vaccinations (“Vaccine”).
1. 1st dose: Any time (“Vaccine”).
2. 2nd dose: 1 to 2 months after the first dose (“Vaccine”).
3. 3rd dose: 6 to 12 months after the second dose (“Vaccine”).
